We sit up front in church each week, Listening to him preach the word.
He's an awesome speaker, and really quite deep,
He's a pleasure to be heard.
But from where we sit, they really stand out,
Our Pastors shuffling shoes.
As he speaks i watch them move about,
They are hypnotic as i muse.
He walks back and forth across the stage,
Speaking to us all.
His shoes seem to have a life of their own,
As if he was moving around at their call.
Sometimes he wears canvas in demin blue,
Sometimes some with stripy soles in brown.
Some that are plain old runners,
That you wouldn't notice just walking around town.
Up on the stage just a foot off the ground,
His shoes are a show on their own.
Moving to and fro each week,
As the word of God is sown.
Each week i'm interested to see,
What shoes he chooses this week.
Each pair seem to have a life of their own,
On our Pastor as he speaks.
